In celebration of National Romania Day this concert at Carnegie Hall features a duel with two collection instruments performed by two world-class Romanian violinists. Liviu Prunara is concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam and plays a 1694 Stradivarius Pachoud violin. A soloist of the Romanian Radio Orchestra and Choirs, Gabriel Croitoru performs on the Guarneri violin that previously belonged to composer George Enescu. The "arbiter" of the dual is pianist Horia Mihail. Works by Sarasate, Shostakovich, Smetana, Hubay, Wieniawski, and Piazzolla.
